Paris studio founded by designers Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud presents a piece that moves between furniture and installation, produced and manufactured in France in partnership with brand DEORON<\/p>\n\n\n\n

French design studio AMCA OVAL launched the modular AURORA system, a piece in raw aluminum with laser-cut elements. Brand DEORON signs the project presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modular System<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Configured as an open structure, the piece allows multiple functions from the same set of elements. Pieces can be combined to form room dividers, light fixtures, candle holders, vases, tables, shelving systems or larger-scale spatial compositions. According to the studio, the goal is not a fixed object but a structure capable of expanding, adapting and evolving according to the environment where it is installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Functional and sculptural at the same time, according to the founders, the system combines technical rigor with a playful repertoire. This combination sums up, according to AMCA OVAL, the studio’s central proposal that contemporary spaces should remain flexible, without a definitive structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Studio Background<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2023 by designers Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud, AMCA OVAL creates custom environments for the hospitality, dining, retail and private residential sectors. The two partners combine more than 15 years of experience as designers and art directors in the fashion and luxury industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creative directors by training, Martial and Caillaudaud attribute the studio’s visual vocabulary to a recurring fascination with the oval shape, an element that also names the brand. For the founders, the oval represents openness, movement, circularity and the pursuit of a new aesthetic ideal, concepts that became the starting point for a growing collection of objects and spatial systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the studio, references to the optimistic futurism of the 1970s, architectural modernism and the freedom of modular building toys appear in the visual language of the pieces. Meanwhile, the office’s contemporary aesthetic combines influences from avant-garde retrofuturist design of those same decades and 1990s minimalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Collections<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Beyond AURORA, the AMCA OVAL portfolio includes other pieces focused on research into shape, perception and emotion. Among them is VEGA 81, a sculptural light fixture made of 3D-printed cells, crafted from bio-based plastic incorporating crushed oyster shells and connected by cables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Named VIBRATIONS, another studio line translates organic, colorful shapes into hand-tufted rugs, cushions and painted wall panels. Both collections follow the same visual language built around the oval shape, applied to different techniques and materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming from the fashion industry, the founders point to this background as a direct reference for decisions on scale, texture and composition in every new studio project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior Design Work<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the production of objects and furniture, AMCA OVAL also works in interior design, with projects for retail spaces, private apartments and hospitality developments. This branch allows pieces like AURORA to be incorporated into complete environments developed by the studio’s own team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immersive installations and stage design for exhibitions and brand experiences also form part of the office’s scope of work. Each project, according to the studio, is treated as a unique composition, in which space, objects and atmosphere are planned in an integrated way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brand and Founders<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Identity rooted in the oval shape guides both the name and the aesthetic repertoire of the brand. For Martial and Caillaudaud, each new collection functions as an extension of the same design reasoning, applied to different materials, scales and functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to founding the studio, the two partners built careers as art directors at luxury fashion houses, an experience that, according to both, continues to shape how they approach proportion, materiality and narrative in interior and product projects. This background is cited by the founders as the office’s main differentiator compared to more traditional design studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trained in design and art direction, Martial and Caillaudaud define the studio’s vision as global, capable of spanning everything from the conception of a single object to the full planning of a space. This approach includes an in-house custom furniture creation service, combined with curation of third-party pieces to complete the ambience of each project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multidisciplinary by definition, AMCA OVAL brings together furniture creation, lighting, collectible pieces and interior projects under a single creative direction. According to the founders, this work functions as a true creative playground, in which different design disciplines are explored together, without a fixed hierarchy between product and space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, keeping this range of fronts under the same signature allows aesthetic coherence between works of different natures, from the production of a single piece to the complete design of a commercial or residential environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
