PARIS — Making its debut on the Art Basel Paris program, the Rotonde d’Antin at the Grand Palais hosts GOD HATES SPACE Oct. 22-25, 2026. The immersive project is by GENER8ION, the duo of producer Surkin and filmmaker Romain Gavras. It is the first collaboration between the fair and Live Nation, and the free installation widens access to the general public.
GOD HATES SPACE: A NEW IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD OF GENER8ION

Film and sound engage with the building rather than simply filling it. Converted into an audiovisual environment, the rotunda lends its scale to the narrative, anchored by a 12-meter double screen.

Set in the near future, GOD HATES SPACE belongs to GENER8ION’s fragmented narrative and arrives in France for the first time. The project expands the universe of “LOVE & TEARS,” an album released June 12, 2026, in which the track “God Hates Space,” featuring 070 Shake, serves as one of the opening chapters.
Both institutions share an aim: bringing art and culture closer so contemporary French creativity can reach people at home and abroad. For Art Basel Paris, the initiative also reinforces a commitment to fostering encounters among disciplines, artistic practices and audiences.

Benoît Heitz, known as Surkin, is a producer, composer and DJ from France associated with the French Touch 2.0 generation. His work spans electronic music, film, fashion and visual arts, and includes the score for “ATHENA,” Gavras’s third feature. Within the duo, musical and visual creation are inseparable.

French-Greek filmmaker Romain Gavras, who emerged from the Kourtrajmé collective, built a distinctive visual language through music videos including Justice’s “Stress,” M.I.A.’s “Born Free,” Jamie xx’s “Gosh” and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild.” In cinema, he directed “Our Day Will Come,” “The World Is Yours” and “ATHENA.” His latest, “Sacrifice,” premieres on Netflix on Oct. 16, 2026.

One highlight of the partnership is “STORM,” a music video with Swedish rapper Yung Lean that has more than 37 million YouTube views. The track surpassed 60 million Spotify streams and reached the global top 5 on Shazam, ranking No. 1 in the United States and Canada. A performance at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards amplified its reach.
