Architect Thiago José Barros has developed the Órbita & Orbital project, which combines modular flooring and experimental sculpture using circular geometry and Brazilian woods.
The set comprises the Órbita floor, which combines sucupira with circular inlays of tauari, and the Orbital sculpture, assembled from tauari modules extracted in the same digital cut. The proposal explores material continuity: what is removed from one surface gains new three-dimensional function.

The floor creates a visual field of rhythm and contrast from the density and deep grain of sucupira. The sculpture reorganises the circles into an open structure, inaugurating a phase of investigation into modular installations.

Trained at UFRJ and with a master’s degree from the Architectural Association in London, Thiago specialises in wood and moves between architecture, design and surfaces. The designer is one of the founders of the NGO Dexcolados in Rio de Janeiro, and has developed projects such as the Pototo Bench, the Mimesis Bench and Writing Desk, the Reverso Modular system and the North Lodge, with international recognition and work as an educator in workshops and lectures.
