Belgian designer Debora Vancayzeele creates objects balancing geometric forms to represent the connection between adulthood and childhood

Designer Debora Vancayzeele presents the Collectie Co collection at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The project explores the codependence of geometric forms to create functional and balanced objects. The proposal goes beyond aesthetics: each piece represents the connection between the adult and the inner child, a relationship the artist considers often forgotten.

The exhibition takes place at Piet Hein Eek, at Halvemaanstraat 30 in Eindhoven (postcode 5651BP). In the collection, the forms are visually and structurally codependent. One cannot exist without the other, in a metaphor about the importance of keeping alive the connection with the playful essence that often gets left behind in adult life. “One form has no raison d’être without the other”, the designer explains.

From invisible to tangible

Vancayzeele’s work is characterised by making the invisible visible. The designer translates abstract ideas, emotions and concepts into objects, videos and interiors that combine playfulness and depth. Her creations stem from personal experiences and observations, transforming her perception of the world into something tangible.

Inspired by the complexity of human nature, she seeks to give shape to what cannot easily be expressed in words. Her visual language is intuitive and abstract, yet always accessible, inviting the observer to take a second look and shift perspective.

Design that moves

As a designer, Vancayzeele creates objects that spark wonder. At first glance, her pieces may appear as abstract sculptures, but reveal surprising functions when observed carefully. For her, design has power that transcends aesthetics: it can invite play, evoke memories and contribute to emotional wellbeing.

With curiosity about the interaction between form, material and atmosphere, the designer seeks to work on multiple layers, blending visual poetry and thoughtful craftsmanship in each creation.
